Weekly Average Weight Calculator for Coaches

Paste up to seven daily weigh-ins to calculate an average. Add the previous week's entries to compare averages. Use one reading per day and the same unit for both weeks. The defaults are examples, not targets.

Estimates for planning, not medical advice. Weight averages alone do not establish health or body composition.

Method and assumptions

Average = sum of the supplied weigh-ins ÷ number of entries. For the default current week, 400 kg ÷ 5 entries = 80 kg. Missing days are omitted from the calculation. Do not enter zero for a missed weigh-in. Use a decimal point, not a decimal comma; commas separate readings.

Change = current average − previous average. Percentage change = change ÷ previous average × 100. A positive sign means the current average is higher; a negative sign means it is lower. Neither sign is a judgement about health or progress. Results round to two decimal places; calculations use unrounded values.

The previous week is optional. Without it, the tool shows only the current average and entry count. Weeks with unequal entry counts are compared as supplied, without filling missing days. Different days or measurement conditions can limit the comparison. Even matching counts do not prove matching conditions.

Keep the same weight unit for every entry. Selecting kg or lb labels your inputs; it does not convert them. This is arithmetic for a coaching check-in, not a body composition estimate or a recommendation to change intake. The tool does not save the weigh-ins.

Worked example with default inputs

Unit for all weigh-ins (changing this label does not convert entries)
kg
Current week: up to 7 weigh-ins, separated by commas or new lines
80.2, 80, 79.8, 80.1, 79.9
Previous week: optional, up to 7 weigh-ins
80.4, 80.2, 80.5, 80.3, 80.1

Change from previous average: -0.30 kg (-0.37%). Compare the sample counts and weighing conditions before interpreting the difference. Values round to two decimal places. No health judgement is made.

Frequently asked questions

Can I calculate an average without seven weigh-ins?

Yes. Enter one to seven daily readings. The calculator divides by the number supplied. Omit missing days instead of entering zero, and review the entry count before comparing weeks.

Do I need the previous week's weights?

No. Leave that field blank to get the current average alone. The calculator will not invent a previous average or a change.

Can I use pounds instead of kilograms?

Yes. Select lb and enter every reading in pounds. The unit selector does not convert existing entries. Percentage change is the same for equivalent measurements in either unit.

What does a positive or negative change mean?

Positive means the current average is higher than the previous average; negative means it is lower. This calculation does not explain the cause or decide whether a change is appropriate.

Can I compare weeks with different numbers of readings?

Yes, but check the sample counts and conditions. The tool averages each week's actual entries. It does not correct for missing days or different weighing conditions.
